A butcher, a baker, a candlestick maker… In the days of old you could identify a person’s trade by simply knowing their last name. Though we claim to be living in a progressive society, it seems we have expanded and revised this tradition into the exclusion of the working class. If you want new actors or artists you simply look to the big names in entertainment and see if you can solicit unrewarded opportunities for your spoilt little offspring through clandestine deals made in the shadows.
The problem is… any actor or musician that has had made any creative impact or value in history lived and suffered for their art, which made their talent bloom into some of the big names we know and love today. Staring at the Glastonbury stage and seeing a bunch of people with no life experience preaching to your average Joe and “telling it how it is” seems to be one of the final acts of hilarity modern society has to offer in our dystopian society.
Don’t worry though those living on a council estate with hopes and dreams of doing music. You can sign up to the local farmyard talent show and join a lineup of talentless attention seekers in the hope your star quality shines through your coal dusted face… except it won’t because you will be cancelled by the upper class inciting the coal face as a racial hate crime. These rich nepo children have never seen dirt because their butlers and housemaids clean it up for them daily.
The only silver lining to never seeing a good band on stage again is that if you throw a paper aeroplane hard enough, you can take out one of the nepo babies eyes and inspire enough pain for them to write a half decent song about it… They’ll likely have private healthcare though so you still won’t be able to relate to it.
