What better way for a child to fill the parental deficit then by exploring the digital catalogue of online sex and death cults. Children can get emotionally invested in trite sensationalism on YouTube guffed out by some global village idiot willing to bankrupt truth and morality for financial gain, while parent’s can subscribe to culture wars convincing them their ‘Afghan Hound’ is a sleeper cell trying to take away their rights to eat a Gregg’s sausage roll.
What have we become? An online miasma of political extremism, the undermining of scientific consensus and an exponential rise in misinformation. The removal of skepticism in our society has resulted in the general population believing a meme with some text on it over empirical evidence simply because it is too long to read.
“Too long didn’t read” is the slang chiselled into our society’s gravestone. We even have a government that can’t be bothered to read and write, so instead it patronisingly sends out links to fictional TV shows in order to ‘educate’ us. If you don’t want your child to stab someones nan, spend some time parenting them instead of letting YouTube do it for you. The education system certainly won’t be doing it.
The reason social media influencers can galvanise a bunch of ‘Adolesence’ into terrorists is because of a failing society reaping the consequences of global individualism and as we descend further into this post truth landscape, we are left with the realisation that one day AI will convince the species that oxygen is bad for it.
